Finding and Investing in New Music
You want something new to listen to. Where do you go? For me, growing up, that meant turning on the radio or hitting up one of the local music stores. There are so many choices out there, and new music keeps coming out every day. Where do you start? Here are a few tips for growing your music library through the many platforms that are out there.
One way would be to go off an artist’s playlist. Playlists on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and so on will tend to throw in similar artists based on who you are listening to. Once you find a song from a new artist that you like, you can look them up and find an entire album to listen to. Either pick the album the song was off of, or look up one of their more successful ones to start with. Finding out who influenced the artist you are listening to can also turn up someone you may have never heard of.
Another fun way to discover new music is from your friends and family. Ask them what they’re listening to, or about some of their favorite songs. You are bound to find one new artist to check out.
