Jacob Vallejo, a native of Somerset, Texas began his career in music with playing trumpet throughout middle and high school. It wasn’t until high school at the age of 16 that he picked up his first guitar but his love and passion for the guitar grew quickly. After high school, he began studying jazz guitar under Joe Gonzales at Palo Alto College and played with the jazz and guitar ensembles. In the fall of 2009, Jacob graduated from Palo Alto College with his Associates in Music. Around this time Jacob began sharing his love for the guitar at Kazen Middle school where he served as a guitar instructor. Shortly, thereafter in January 2010, he started teaching at San Antonio Music Academy (SAMA). Alongside teaching, he continued his formal education at University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) where he eventually earned his Bachelors in Music Education. While at UTSA Jacob studied classical guitar under Mike Ritcher. Currently, Jacob not only teaches private lessons at SAMA but he is the instructor for two of our ensemble groups, Intrepid and Red Med Mavens. With much applause from his students and co-workers, Jacob was awarded 2017 Instructor of the Year. During his spare time, he plays guitar in a local rock group that is in the process of recording their first album.
