Jacob Vallejo, B.M.E.
Guitar Instructor
Jacob Vallejo, a native of Somerset, Texas, began his musical journey playing trumpet throughout middle and high school. It wasn’t until the age of 16 that he picked up his first guitar, but his love and passion for the instrument grew quickly. After high school, he studied jazz guitar under Joe Gonzales at Palo Alto College, where he performed with the jazz and guitar ensembles. Jacob graduated from Palo Alto College with an Associate of Music degree before beginning to share his love of guitar as an instructor at Kazen Middle School. In January 2010, he joined the faculty at San Antonio Music Academy (SAMA), where he has now been teaching for over 15 years.
Alongside teaching, Jacob continued his formal education at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education while studying classical guitar under Mike Richter. In addition to teaching private lessons, Jacob also directs several of SAMA’s student bands, helping young musicians develop their ensemble skills and gain valuable live performance experience. In recognition of his dedication to his students, Jacob was honored with SAMA’s 2017 Instructor of the Year award.
During his spare time, Jacob enjoys performing guitar with a few bands of his own and continues to write and record music.
