WHY PRACTICE? Three Different Perspectives
The YOU Perspective:
I don’t think it is stated enough, but the more you practice and put in the hard work, the more music gives back to you. And that’s a direct benefit to you. The more effort you make, the more rewards you will reap, and music is no exception.
Parents, if you have young kids taking music lessons, take time to explain and remind them of this fact. We live in a fast paced, quick fix, instant gratification society nowadays and unfortunately, learning an instrument (voice included)
doesn’t work that way. It’s a slower, ever growing, lifelong learning venture.
The FINANCIAL INVESTMENT Perspective:
Whether you are a parent or self-funded student paying for music lessons, it makes sense from a financial investment perspective to practice diligently, thereby ensuring the best returns on your money. Good investors always make their money work for them and so should you when it comes to investing in music tuition. Make the most of your hard earned cash by ensuring conscientious practice.
The INSTRUCTOR Perspective:
Now I get to be selfish for once! 😉 Believe me when I say that an instructor’s day is made when students come to lessons practiced and prepared! There is nothing more frustrating and soul-destroying for a teacher than having to rehash
previous work. It also doesn’t show respect for an instructor’s time and effort spent preparing lessons. So please, please kindly do practice! It makes sense all round!
