How to Enjoy Summer & Not Forget Your Instrument
Summer is a great time – a time for fun with family and friends, a time to relax, a break from school. While these are all good things, it’s important not to forget about your instrument during this relaxing season. Learning an instrument is about taking one step at a time. And taking a break from practicing is something that could set you two steps back, leaving you with technique and material to relearn. For many adult students, summer schedules remain unchanged, lending way for their practice schedule to follow suit. However, students on school break often have a propensity to put their instrument on summer break as well. But this can be bad news! Students who earn first chair in the choir, band, or orchestra once school resumes are the ones who have continued practicing diligently, unfazed by the change in routine. So while our lives may have transitions, make sure improving yourself as a musician is part of every season.
