What is so Important about Performing?
As we are in the midst of our recitals we all might be wondering, why do we perform? Why is it so important to participate in the recitals? It’s all about setting goals for ourselves! Committing to perform motivates the musician to improve technique and learn new music, which is always exciting. Without setting goals for ourselves, what motivation is there?
The importance of performing is immeasurable. Music is a social event and must be shared with others, not locked away in a practice room to benefit just ourselves. For those of us who are experienced performers, we can help those who might be getting ready to participate in their very first recital. Reassure them that they are going to do well, encourage them to really commit, and support them during and after the performance.
By making the recitals about sharing the music and encouraging fellow musicians, we find true enjoyment in the performance instead of it being a task. And who knows, by performing we just might be making someone’s day better or inspiring them in some way.
