SAMA voice student Emma Muñoz created the Emma Muñoz Voice Scholarship in the fall of 2016 to benefit her peers enrolled in voice lessons at San Antonio Music Academy. Emma’s purpose for founding the scholarship is to recognize ambitious vocalists working hard to perfect their craft. Two awards were created in the amount of $250 each. Students applying for the scholarship submitted an essay on the personal significance of music in their life and its impact on their future. In addition, scholarship applicants auditioned in front of scholarship founder Emma Muñoz with one performance piece. Emma was very encouraging during the audition process ensuring each student of a commendable performance. Emma had a difficult decision to make as only two award recipients would be chosen. After some deliberation over the course of a few days, Emma evaluated the performances with the essay submissions and selected two award recipients. On Thursday, December 15th, Emma met with the two vocalists to present them with a certificate and congratulate them on a successful audition. Emma hopes this opportunity will encourage SAMA vocalists to continue putting in the time and effort it takes to become an accomplished singer. Emma has been a voice student at SAMA for over five years and is a member of the exclusive voice performance group SAMA Elite.
