“Is My Child Making Progress?” – Jake Ramirez
As a teacher, throughout the year I tend to hear the same questions asked by many parents of young music students. One of them being, “Is my child making progress?” It makes me happy to see parents wanting their students to excel. It’s safe to assume you, the parent, listen to your child practice at home during the week. However if you are one of the parents who are now thinking, “I don’t even know what my child sounds like on his/her instrument.” then that is a big problem. Remember parents, take an active role in your child’s musical learning experience and really listen to your child practice every day. You should be listening for improvement every week just like we do! If you’re not hearing it, just encourage your child to practice. If you are hearing it, compliment your young musician or just sit back and enjoy the show.
