Why San Antonio Music Academy?
San Antonio Music Academy has a rigorous selection process when choosing instructors to work for our academy. We want only the best on staff so that everyone involved has a positive experience with our academy. In addition to the qualifications of our instructors (each having a Bachelor’s degree or higher), we understand that student safety and respect is paramount. This is why each of our instructors takes a certified safety training program when hired in addition to the extensive background check we run. Instructors at San Antonio Music Academy understand the needs our their students and that each student has a different motivation for learning. Our passion is to take a student’s goals and make them a reality.

What are the qualifications of your violin instructor?

San Antonio Music Academy (SAMA) takes no shortcuts when it comes to our instructors. Our violin instructor, Shane Duyvené de Wit, relocated all the way from Cape Town, South Africa to work with our academy. Shane holds a Bachelor of Musicology from the University of South Africa (UNISA) and has many years of experience working with private violin students as well as orchestras and string ensembles. How long is each lesson?
Each private lesson is 30 minutes long. During the lesson, our violin instructor will teach the student proper playing technique and how to read music for the violin. Students are given assignments each to help them progress.

How long does it take to learn violin?
This depends on a student’s goals. For example, if a student wants to learn to play Ode to Joy by Beethoven, he/she could do this in a month’s time with consistent practice. However, if they would like to learn The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, several years of violin foundation and technique must be learned before attempting this piece. Many of our students ask for help with pieces they’re working on with the school orchestra. Be sure to inform your violin instructor of your personal musical goals.

What are your normal rates?
Four 30 minute private violin lessons are $109/month plus a $30 membership fee. With this special offer of $50 off, you would only pay $89 for four lessons. Click HERE to view our tuition rates.

How much would it cost to continue after this offer?
If you decide to continue after the four lessons, the tuition is $109/month for half hour lessons meeting once a week.

How old do I have to be to take violin lessons?
Students must be 6 years old to take violin lessons. We have many young students around this age as well as students of middle school and high school age. Adults students are welcome too.

Do you offer private lessons for other instruments?
Yes, we offer lessons for piano, guitar, bass, voice, and drums.

Is the $50 off discount available for other instruments?
No, it’s only available for private violin lessons.

When does this deal expire?
This deal expires September 15th. You must register by September 15th with the discount code “GOOGLE50” to be receive the promotion.

Do I have to have my own violin?
Student should have their own violin. Crucial to a student’s progress, he/she must able to practice the assignments given to them by their instructor. If you don’t have a violin, you may rent one or purchase one. We have violins available in store to rent for $25/month. Our violins come with a violin shoulder rest, rosin, and hard case. It also includes regular maintenance.

Do you have recitals?
Yes, we do! We have 3 formal recitals each year. (Take a look of some of our student performances. We’re pretty proud of them.) Recitals give students the opportunity to showcase the hard work they’ve put into learning their instrument. Sharing their work and talent with invited family and friends is a special moment for each student, which contributes to continued motivation to become an even better musician.
