The SAMA Student Band Program gives SAMA students real world experience playing in a band and performing in public venues. Many students do well playing as solo musicians but are not competent in playing with other musicians. The SAMA Student Band Program teaches musicians what it means to conduct a group rehearsal, how to develop rapport with your band mates, and how to prepare for a gig.

Student Band Tuition: $150/month

Students audition by performing one piece/song in front of the band instructor. The piece/song does not need to be memorized.

*Students playing with a recording (i.e. vocalists with a karaoke track) should bring the recording to the audition on a phone, or send a youtube link to contact@samusicacademy.com.

Public performances are specific to each student band. Once the band works up a setlist of around 20 minutes, we will start to schedule them gigs at public venues around the city.

We commit to having our student bands perform a minimum of two public performances each year. More advanced bands will perform more frequently. Past performances have included: King William Fair, Bandera Riverfest, Helotes Winterfest, Rock the Plaza, & Leon Valley 4th of July Celebration to name a few. Band students are encouraged to suggest events they would like to perform at.
