
Paul Dattner, A.M., Guitar Instructor
Paul Dattner was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. He discovered his passion for music during his senior year of high school, being heavily influenced by the whammy whales and widdly diddlys of Dimebag Darrell, lead guitarist heavy metal band Pantera. Paul embarked on his musical journey at Palo Alto Community College in San Antonio, where he pursued a degree in Music Theory with Instrument Emphasis. Under the guidance of esteemed instructors such as Dr. Armin Marmolejo, Joe Gonzales, Al Gomez, and other reputable teachers and professors, Paul honed his skills in guitar, bass, piano, vocals, ear training, and sight reading.
With over a decade of teaching experience, Paul is renowned for his emphasis on nurturing genuine interest and retention. His expertise in genres ranges from jazz, classical, and metal to pop, rock, R&B, conjunto, Tejano, and mariachi. Paul’s musical dedication extends to coaching aspiring bands, showcasing his commitment to fostering the next generation of musicians. For his skills on the acoustic guitar, Paul won the 2010 Guitar Wars Competition, hosted by Alamo Music. His contributions extend beyond accolades, having received a Valuable Contribution Certificate Award from Paul W. Ott Elementary in 2015.
Beyond the realm of music, Paul demonstrates skills in live content management, video editing, graphic design, mechanics, and light circuitry. His diverse interests include science research, mastering video games, and engaging in philosophical discussions. In his personal life, Paul is happily married and is the proud father of a one-year-old daughter named Charlotte.
