Khadijah Enriquez, B.M.,
Voice Instructor
Khadijah was born in the tiny town of Del Rio, Texas, but has called San Antonio home since coming here for college in 2015. She studied Vocal Performance at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where she received classical training (including music theory, aural skills, and Italian, French, and German diction), and studied vocal pedagogy.
Though classically trained, she also has personal experience in musical theatre and jazz, and enjoys teaching all genres. In her last 6 years teaching at SAMA, she’s had the joy of working with a variety of students to achieve their goals, whether it’s TMEA All-State or NATS competition, musical theatre auditions, or preparing for gigs for rock, country, pop, and folk performers. She believes that a strong vocal technique and knowledge of the voice as an instrument gives students the tools to effectively pursue their passions.
Khadijah also remains an active performer, allowing her to bring experience to technical practice. She most recently performed at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Dr. Yoojin Muhn, has had the honor of singing in chorus for Andrea Bocelli, and has gone on several European tours as a chorus member and soloist throughout France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Greece.
She also loves being involved in the local theatre community, and is passionate about the impact of both music and theatre education. She’s worked in education departments for Magik Theatre and Wonder Theatre, and enjoys participating in productions as well. Khadijah remains a lifelong student who is always looking for ways to improve her own performance and pedagogy, frequently partaking in courses and seminars with singers and teachers she admires. When she’s not teaching, you can find her at her friend’s or student’s shows and gigs around town, or selling her crochet at a local craft market.
