Instructor Position F.A.Q.
How many students will I start with?
While there are no guarantees, we heavily advertise to enroll new students when we hire a new instructor. Another thing to note is there is more interest for certain instruments than others. For example, it may take a piano instructor three months to get 30 students while it may take a guitar instructor five months to get 30 students.
How much will I get paid?
$20-24/hour is the starting pay and depends on your education level and experience. Periodically, we do percentage raises of 1-3%.
If hired, will I be an employee or independent contractor?
All instructors are hired as independent contractors since they dictate their availability and how they approach teaching.
Do I have to schedule my own students?
No. All scheduling is taken care of by our administrative team. All you have to do is login online and view your teaching schedule.
Do I have to get billing info from my students?
No. Our administrative team takes care of all the billing – so no awkward conversations asking parents for money. And what’s more, SAMA will still pay you even if the student is behind on their tuition.
Do I have to schedule recitals for my students?
No. Our administrative team handles it all – the recital venue, photographer, videographer, PA equipment, stage setup, recital brochure, and recital marketing. All you have to do is prepare your students and sign them up to perform.
What happens if I need time off?
SAMA requires a two week notice for time off. SAMA will then schedule a substitute teacher to cover your schedule during your absence.
