Alyssa Moreno, B.M., Voice Instructor
Alyssa Moreno is a classically trained vocalist and music educator from San Antonio, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in Spring 2025, where she studied voice under Crystal Jarrell Johnson and vocal pedagogy under John Nix. Alyssa was selected for the 2024 Southwestern American Choral Directors Association Undergraduate Conducting Masterclass under Dr. Shohei Kobayashi and has performed major choral works, including Mozart’s Requiem and Fauré’s Requiem, at Carnegie Hall in New York under the direction of Dr. Yoojin Muhn.
Inspired by her parents, who were avid concertgoers and instilled in her a love for live music, Alyssa developed a deep appreciation for music from a young age. While her formal training is rooted in classical music, Alyssa enjoys performing and teaching a wide variety of styles, including pop, musical theater, jazz, and opera. As an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), she has guided students through the All-State audition process and is passionate about helping young musicians achieve their goals. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating a supportive environment where students can develop confidence, overcome challenges, and discover their unique artistic voice.
Alyssa’s love for music began in elementary school choir and continued to grow throughout her school years as she taught herself piano and guitar. She believes music has the power to build meaningful connections and provide a safe space for self-expression. Outside of teaching, Alyssa enjoys anime, video games, and writing her own original songs. She strives to inspire her students with the same encouragement and sense of belonging that her own music teachers provided throughout her journey.
